The Mustard Seed Project is a medical mission and a Christian outreach program dedicated to the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of the Cabecar Indians of Costa Rica. Our teams consist largely of medical doctors, dentists, and nurses who after donating their time by traveling to Costa Rica, hiking into the Chirripo Mountains and providing professional services, find themselves blessed to be a part of this meaningful and affirming project. Experiencing the heart-felt gratitude from these wonderful people, and seeing the positive changes in their lives, has made it obvious that we need to do more.

Our current goal is to raise enough money to provide the Cabecar’s with medical clinics in two locations which will significantly improve the level of health and quality of life for these people. We are asking you to help us make an important difference in the lives of the Cabecar Indians.

The mission to the Cabecars began 15 years ago when the Reverend Esteban Park, a Korean Presbyterian missionary, followed his calling from God for mission work to the rugged mountains of Costa Rica and the Cabecar Indians. Rev. Park initially started churches in the capital city of San Jose. While in San Jose he learned of the Cabecars and set out to make contact with them. Although he did not know the language and customs of the Indians, he combined hard work and fervent prayer to reach the Cabecars. The results of his efforts are amazing. Rev. Park has built nine churches in the Chirripo Mountains. He has helped the Cabecars build better housing, provided clean drinking water, and overseen the construction of a school. He has persuaded the Costa Rican government to build a suspension foot bridge over the Chirripo River, removing one of the greatest threats to life for the Cabecars. Most importantly he brought them the Christian gospel. Today, more than 2,000 Indians have been baptized into the Christian faith.
